Dai Family Xinyiquan Tutorials
The training program of Dai Family Xinyiquan stands out with its unique approach to teaching the essential aspects of this style. Unlike most internal martial arts like Taichichuan, which immediately delve into long sets (Taou or Frame), Dai Family Xinyiquan begins with well-designed basic exercises and short sets. This method aims to provide students with a solid foundation right from the start, boosting their confidence and enhancing their physical abilities. Furthermore, it focuses on training the internal organs, aligning with the principles of Chinese Traditional Medicine, and promoting better health.
The progression of this training program emphasizes the development of inner strength and balance, gradually introducing forms that require increased proficiency in internal skills as well as greater demands on physical capabilities.
let's dive in more detail with the categories of exercises:
Fundamentals: Training begins with learning the basic techniques, postures, movements, and guard positions of Dai Xinyiquan style. This also includes understanding the fundamental principles of internal energy and body coordination.
Internal energy: Dai Xinyiquan style also emphasizes the development of internal energy, such as Qi (vital energy) and Jin (internal strength). This includes breathing exercises, meditation, visualization, and work on developing internal energy circulation and strength.
Forms: Dai Xinyiquan style includes a number of forms, which are precise sequences of movements. These forms are designed to develop strength, coordination, flexibility, and fluidity of movements. Each form has a specific purpose and emphasizes different aspects of the practice.
Striking techniques: Training in Dai Xinyiquan style also includes striking techniques, such as punches, kicks, elbow strikes, and knee strikes. These techniques are practiced on specific targets, such as punching bags or focus pads, to develop power, precision, and speed in strikes.
Martial applications: An important part of Dai Xinyiquan style training is dedicated to learning martial applications, i.e., how to use the techniques in real combat situations. This includes learning strategies, tactics, and defensive techniques against different attacks.
It is important to note that the training in Dai Xinyiquan style may vary from instructor to instructor, as well as based on the students’ level of practice.
